Chapter I

A Long Time Ago

A long time ago, when dollar bills weren't invented and gold was scarce, lived a boy and a girl. Their names were Hans and Mary.

They were very poor. They didn't even have enough money to buy shoes. They lived in a cottage. Mary did not like it. She thought th-

at all the work on the farm will give them money to buy a new house, but the problem was that nobody had enough money to feed their own family. The Robins had lots of food because of all the farming. All that Hans wants is to stop working and eat meat.

Chapter II

The Chickens

One day as they were siting down for dinner, it started to rain. When they went outside they saw that Mary's favorite chicken was laying dead. When they went closer, they saw that others have been hurt, "w-what happened?" stammered Mary, sounding upset. "Probably a Possum" said Hans seeing the broken eggs in the coop, not taking it that hard because of the chicks they were raising.

"We have fifteen left and five chicks" said Hans.

"But what about Star?" asked Mary, still sounding upset. "I'll tell Father" said Hans, ignoring Mary.

As he ran across the farm he thought about "Mr. Owl" glad that he was not hurt or killed, not thinking at all about Mary and her chicken.

As he ran in the front door gasping for breath, he called out "FATHER!" "I'm in the woodshed" he heard is dad call. "Dad!" he said when he got to the woodshed. "Star is killed, and some of the chickens are hurt!" "Calm down" said his dad, "Do you know what killed them?" he asked, "I think a possum" said Hans "All the eggs are cracked." "Is the possum still there?" asked his dad. "No, it's not" said Hans

"Here" said Mary holding the dolls and two burgers. "Here's also two burgers." "Thanks" said Claire, "lets cut Sophie's hair first" mentioning her second favorite doll. "OK" said Mary with a piece of burger in her mouth.
"EEWW" shrieked Claire. And both of them started laughing. "Oh" said Claire looking at her doll. "What is it?" asked Mary. "Look" said Claire. "Oh" repeated Mary. The dolls hair was half cut off.

"What do you mean oops?" said Claire fuming with madness. "I...I..." Sputt-
